City Link-Up 27th June
City Link-up is a monthly show that takes place in Leicester on the last Thursday of each month.
The show features established and rising artists both from Leicester and out of town.
Tonight’s show was held at Sumo in Braunstone Gate.
This free entry event raises funds for the ACLT bone marrow and blood donation.
At Sumo tonight there was an enjoyable club-like atmosphere, the room set with tables and chairs and the sound was really good. The events are free entry, to allow as much money as possible to be raised for the ACLT charity.
Singer Tanni Browne opened the show with his selection of Bob Marley songs, creating the mood for a night of really good music.
Duo Lady Paradox, an unusual female rapper, performed with beat boxer Motor Mouth to provide an amazing set of sounds. Armed with particularly good lyrics and a high standard of technical proficiency, this was a really good set.
Singer Levi Tear brought his superb vocals to the mic. Coming from London, the singer had previously appeared at JazzCafe in London.
Birmingham’s Kezia Soul enchanted the audience with her set of moody and atmospheric soul songs that was delivered with plenty of style and pizzaz. Singing her own songs, Kezia’s performance was impressive, full of character and impact.
Leicester’s Deven Stuart brought his musical warriors to the house.
Singer Calvin Jeffrey added his fine performance and voice to the excellent line-up of artists tonight.
