New city center concert venue to open
Leicester’s old ‘pork pie chapel’ is being restored and will become a venue for live music, according to the BBC.
The Grade II listed Methodist Chapel in Belvior Street is to be named after its architect Joseph Aloysius Hansom (the inventor of the horse-drawn Hansom cab.)
The chapel stands next to the old central lending library which now houses The Leicester People’s Photographic Gallery.
The exact use of the building and the type of concerts to be put on there are not yet known but indications are that it will open with shows for young people.
