Preview – Ferocious Dog (Duo) at Firebug, Sunday 23rd May 2021

Old CV19 might have put an end to many a festival plan, both this summer and last, but don’t expect that to stop folk-punk stalwarts and cult festival act Ferocious Dog from strapping up their DMs and hitting the road. Frontman Ken Bonsall (aka Red Kenny) and fellow Hell-Hound, fiddle player Dan Booth will play a double Sunday show at Leicester’s Firebug to celebrate the reopening of one of the city’s most beloved venues.

Heavily influenced by the likes of The Pogues, The Levellers, and New Modal Army, the Warsop Celtic punks have been delighting the Buckfast swilling left-wing crusty within us for many a year. Having played everywhere from Glastonbury to Dubai, from Kenya to Simon Says, the alt folkers have built a reputation that precedes them.

Songs of political and social commentary are combined with excellent musicianship, a seasoned performance, and atmosphere of both defiance and comradery, what better band to see your first post lockdown gig.

Ferocious Dog (Duo) play The Firebug, Millstone Lane, Sunday 23rd May. Doors are at 2.00pm (matinee show) and 7.00pm (evening show). Tickets, priced at £15.00, are essential and can be purchased from Gigantic.
