There is an old saying that one should never mix the grape with the grain, hinting that a nasty hangover will be on the cards. However, when you mix Brandy with Whiskey, you are sure to have a hell of a night, even if you don’t remember it the next morning.
Leicester’s iconic The Musician welcomes the front forces of two of the city’s most revered live acts and a night of revelry is sure to ensue in this one-off acoustic extravaganza. Opening up the evening is Andrea ‘The Tattooed Woman’ Kenny, best known as frontwoman of gypsy punks The Brandy Thieves and recognised by many as the best frontwoman in the city.
Kenny’s explosive stage presence and heart-pounding vocals can both have a room in complete reflective silence and singing with joy within the same few minutes. Kenny has been working hard on a solo album with legendary Leicester sound engineer Neil Segrott in recent months so expect to hear an exclusive glimpse of her new solo work, a few foot-stomping covers, and if you are very lucky, she may even play a Brandy Thieves tune or two.
Headlining the night are The Whiskey Rebellion’s very own front duo, Jonny Eve and Liz Marriot. Expect multi-instrumentalist Eve to produce all sorts of toys as he lays down a plethora of gypsy, Irish, sea shanty infused folk perfectly accompanied by the energy, voice, and soul of Marriott. They may be short on numbers but don’t expect any less of a full throttle performance from the rebels of whiskey. Bring on the hangover!
Jonathan Eve & Liz Marriot + Andrea Kenny play The Musician, Clyde St. Saturday 22nd May. Doors are at 8.00pm. Tickets, priced at £7.00, are essential and can be purchased from Ticketweb.
