Western Park Festival 2016

This year’s music festival held on Western Park took place on Saturday 9th July 2016.

MIL’s media team was there to bring you pictures of artists and bands that played.

Western Park was the setting for the annual festival of live music in which many of the acts were from the local area.  The weather seems to have been less kind this year; as Keith Jobey told us “I was watching The Lost Future playing on the main stage before the gust of wind took out the sound desk gazebo and lifted the front half of the main stage. ” Rain in the morning might have softened the ground, we suspect.

The event at Western Park offered much more than just music; there were activities for children and wide range of sides shows and things to do for all the family. Our interest was of course the music. This was the fifth year of the festival.

Idle Empire performed at this year’s Riverside Festival in June.

Siobhan Mazzie is well known as a solo singer and songwriter; she also has her own band.

Siobhan Mazzei appeared at The Music Cafe in May 2016.

No More Heroes is a well known band from Leicester.

The whiskey Rebellion was a band we saw recently at The Shed, we reported in our July round-up.

The band includes an accordian player.

Before The Crash is another popular Leicester band that we have covered before in this magazine.

Elysian is a duo we saw recently at The Soundhouse; we mentioned them in our round-up of music in July.

Homeless Shakespeare

Singer and songwriter Joe Doyle.

John Fryer is a local singer who has been performing for many years.

The Bella Tones performed. They were on the programme of the Oxjam festival in 2015.

Marika Ling is a solo artist

Marika has wokred with produced Richard Frost to release her current single Tears; she was born in Wolverhampton.
