In the Garden Suite, Rhett Barrow was on stage

One of the most widely known singers and band leaders in Leicester, Rhett’s performances are always a must-see occasion. Rhett’s performance was announced by Alex from the band De Sade.

These acoustic sets happened in the intervals between main stage slots. James Cull came on to the Garden Stage to give the audience a set of powerful songs that went down well.

James is a popular artist and his appearance attracted a large audience into the Garden suite.

The Garden Stage also saw appearances by Final Coil, Midnight Dogs and an acoustic set from Resin.

The whole event seemed to be very well attended, even though the crowd was spread out across many areas of the building. Somewhat similar in feel to the Simon Says… festival which is also held in the DMH but without the outdoors stages. Several merchandise stalls were available and there were two bars offering a selection of real ales. In the garden areas there was some food stalls.

On the main stage five bands played; these were the ones had come through from the Metal2TheMasses shows held at Firebug. From these judges selected bands that would be offered places at the Bloodstock festival taking places 11th to 14th August in South Derbyshire.

In the main hall Final Coil was on stage in a blaze of production lighting. In a superb set the band was able to spread out across the vast stage area, used as they are to being cramped together on small stages, this must have been quite an experience for them.  The stage lighting at the DMH was excellent; this is a theatre that does a really good job at producing its music shows and the sound system in the hall was awesome. You can read about Final Coil’s previous performances in our coverage of Metal2TheMasses.
